Introduction
HSE is the regulatory authority for biocidal products such as embalming products, disinfectants and preserving products (for preserving parts of the deceased) under the GB Biocidal Products Regulation (GB BPR). HSE recognises the importance of understanding how biocides are actively being used in different industries.

The embalming industry and other similar practices, such as preserving parts of the deceased for research and/or teaching purposes, is an area HSE would like to understand further. HSE also wants to understand whether recent decisions taken by industry to not support some active substances used as/in biocides for embalming products, disinfectants and preserving products may affect the availability of suitable products for this use. This knowledge will allow HSE to continue to develop policies which consider the industries that they relate to. To help us do this, we would like to gather information regarding your procedures for handling the deceased and/or parts of the deceased and managing the embalming, disinfecting and preserving processes, specifically the chemicals used.

The survey is anonymous and should take 5-10 minutes to complete.
