Parking In Nambour CBD |
Parking in Nambour CBD
Hi I’m Deb Lawson, a resident and now business owner in Nambour. I have lived in our town for over 5 years and have noticed that I always have trouble finding parking in the Nambour town centre, so I am conducting this survey to see how many others have the same issue when trying to buy goods or seek services in the CBD. I hope to present the results to council to ask them if they will investigate better parking options in town and long term solutions - like the possibility of a central public multi level car park.
As a business owner in town, I am seeing this issue from both sides, I’m surrounded by other independently owned services and retail shops, and one thing that we all notice and we hear from our customers, sometimes on a daily basis, is that people can not get a convenient car park, and, therefore, do not shop with us more often. This hurts small business.
This problem is not new, many business owners and residents of Nambour have talked about this for years (including tourists who visit our town) - the parking in the CBD is difficult and we really need some solutions for a growing population. We have the new entertainment precinct and a new tram coming.
Some retailers and service providers need longer parking (such as appointments or lunch) and some much shorter for customers who need a simple drop in and pick up. A good short-term solution could be combinations of various duration parking spots to keep traffic flowing and have spots available more frequently. We need an independent consultation of what the best short and long-term solutions could be.
If we wish to attract more services and retailers to fill our empty shops how can we do this if there is no convenient parking for their customers? Improved parking and flow of traffic on our main streets can be some of the improvements our town needs to help it reach the potential it is so close to achieving.
There is so much to look forward to in the future of Nambour, but we need this issue to be addressed to ensure we are ready for it!
If you have ever been to town and struggle to get a convenient park please help us by filling in this survey. We will present all findings to council in the hope we can have this urgent issue added to their agenda.
