5-Year Facility Plan
Our newly published 5-Year Facility Plan has vision to:
- Ensure Every Student and Staff Member at HPS benefits from upgraded, 21st-century facilities
- Provide equitable access to programming, facilities, technology, and extra-curricular opportunities.
- Right-size our district to reduce operational costs
- Allow us to invest in our students, staff, and programs
The plan includes changes to our Elementary building structure, which will consolidate elementary programs into three expanded and renovated buildings:
- Holland Heights Elementary, a Nature-Based Program
- West Elementary
- Holland Language Academy (HLA) - moving into Jefferson Elementary in 2028
Options for VanRaalte, Longfellow, and Maplewood could include an Early Childhood Center for increased access to preschool and childcare, the development of housing, or a possible sale to local organizations. We will explore all options to best serve our community.
Bond Proposal
A $45 million bond proposal is a key component of meeting the vision of this 5-Year Facility Plan. A bond proposal allows the voters of a school district to authorize the public school district to borrow money for capital expenditures.

- Bond proceeds can be used on: new construction, additions, remodeling, site improvements, athletic facilities, playgrounds, furnishings, equipment, and technology.
- Bond proceeds cannot be used for: district employee salaries, repairs or maintenance.
If this bond is approved by voters, the property tax rate would not increase over the current rate.
I believe this plan will benefit our students, staff, and the Holland community. Please share your input through the survey and reach out with any questions.
Thank you for helping shape the future of Holland Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Nick Cassidy
