Athletics Day Parent helpers
2024 Athletics
Next week we host our school athletics events. Our Year 3 - 6 children will be travelling on a bus to the athletics park in Cambridge East. Our Year 1 - 2 children will be having their athletics day at school.
We need help for this event to go ahead!
Running an athletics event requires a LOT of hands to allow us to get through all the children who are competing. If we do not have enough parents helping the day quickly becomes unviable.
This is our last call to ask for parent helpers for the day before we talk about postponing the day.
What does helping look like?
Our parents who attend will still be watching their children.
The children move around in groups and compete in all the events throughout the day.
Our parent helpers move around with their children and then help the teacher run an event. This might consist of;

- raking sand in the long jump,
- moving a side of a high jump pole,
- using a stopwatch during sprints,
- measuring a shotput throw.
