Higher Education Experiences of Students from Armed Forces Families

The Service Children’s Progression Alliance and partner agencies have teamed up with ACCESS, a social research organisation, to explore the educational experiences of university students from Armed Forces families.

Who can complete this survey?

Students:
Any students from Armed Forces families that are currently attending university in the UK. This includes students whose parent, guardian or carer, served in the regular armed forces, or as a reservist, or has served at any point during the first 25 years of their life, including the British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Air Force.

HE Staff:
We are also looking for members of staff at HE institutions. In most cases, those best placed to answer these questions will be involved in widening participation, student support or diversity, and inclusivity. If this does not apply to you, please forward the survey on to someone else in your institution that may be able to respond.


The survey will take approximately 5 - 10 minutes to complete.

What happens to the information you provide?
All information collected from the survey will be kept remain confidential and will be seen only by the research team. Responses will be analysed, and summary data and findings will be reported to the Service Children’s Progression Alliance and may be published. We will keep individual responses anonymous but may use direct quotes in our report. Quotes will be anonymised unless you have given permission to identify your institution.

All information will also be treated in accordance with UK GDPR regulations. You can leave the survey at any point without giving a reason to withdraw your participation. However, as the survey is fully anonymous and we do not ask about any identifying information, bear in mind that you cannot withdraw your responses at a later date as we will not be able to match your name with the responses given.
