Merchant Registration Overview

Dear Downtown Hammond Business Owner,

The DDD is looking forward to hosting a successful Hot August Stroll on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Our refreshed approach allows for a full day of promotions for our historic Downtown Hammond. We encourage each business owner to think of this day as a business open house and join the event as you see fit. Hot August Stroll schedule of events is as follows (subject to change):

8AM-12PM / Hammond Farmers & Artisans Market
10AM-12PM / Louisiana Children's Discovery Center Kids Zone
4:30-5PM / LionPawLooza
4-8PM / Wine & Cheese Stroll - We are thrilled to work in partnership with the Hammond Regional Arts Center to host the Wine & Cheese Stroll this year. All business registration and ticket sales will occur through the Hammond Regional Arts Center.

Live Music All Day
Listening Local Stage / 10AM-12PM, 2-8PM
Main Stage (Cate Square Park) / 5:30-9PM
La Carreta Stage / 4-9PM

There are several opportunities for your business to participate in Hot August Stroll this year including:
-Wine & Cheese Stroll (to participate, register with Hammond Regional Arts Center)
-Sip & Snack stop (food/drink establishment Wine & Cheese Stroll alternative; register in this form)
-host sales and specials
-host entertainment, music, an artist, or pop-up

This application is for any brick-and-mortar businesses within the DDD that plan to host any activities during Hot August Stroll. Please tell us everything you have planned to include you in Hot August Stroll promotions! Businesses located within the DDD, but not within walking distance of Hot August Stroll activities, may set up with a booth in a designated area.

Deadline to register: Wednesday, July 24, 2024

The DDD will follow-up with all businesses by Friday, August 2 to confirm participation.

General Hot August Stroll Event Information:

Please review the following information below regarding event logistics and safety.

Parking + Street Closures will be effective Saturday, August 24th:
  • 100 block of NW Railroad Ave from 6AM to 1PM
  • Parking on Charles St from Magnolia St to Cherry St from 5AM to 10PM
  • Charles St from Magnolia St to Cherry St - TBD
Permits and Safety:
1. Any business seeking additional street or parking closures is responsible for their own permits with the City of Hammond.
2. Any restaurant or bar selling alcohol outside of their business is responsible for acquiring their own ATC permit.
3. Any business hosting additional outdoor entertainment/activities is responsible for hiring their own security.
4. Hot August Stroll will operate from from 10 am to 9 pm. Any business that chooses to remain open past 9pm is responsible for their own security.
5. The Hammond Police Department has been involved with the planning of Hot August Stroll to ensure event safety. If you have any specific concerns or requests for Hammond Police Department, please contact Edwin Bergeron: bergeron_ej@hammond.org.

Inclement Weather Clause:
1. Hot August Stroll is expected to operate rain or shine.
2. Hot August Stroll may be canceled or postponed in the event of: (1) A state-issued state of emergency; (2) A severe weather warning, and/or (3) City of Hammond closure.
3. In the event of a cancellation, the Hammond DDD may choose to reschedule the event to a later date. Registered merchants will be expected to participate on the rescheduled date.

Hold-Harmless Clause and Insurance:
All authorized vendors participating in Hot August Stroll 2024 shall be individually responsible for any loss, personal injury, deaths, and/or any other damage that may occur as a result of the vendor's negligence or that of its servants, agents and employees, and all vendors hereby agree to indemnify and save the Hammond Downtown Development District and its event partner the Hammond Regional Arts Center harmless from any loss, costs, damages, and other expenses, including attorney's fees, suffered or incurred by the Hammond Downtown Development District and its event partner Hammond Regional Arts Center by reason of the vendors' negligence or that of its servants, agent and employees; provided that the vendors shall not be responsible nor required to indemnify the Hammond Downtown Development District for the Hammond Downtown Development District's own negligence or that of the Hammond Regional Arts Center, or servants, agents and employees. Because no insurance is provided to participants in Hot August Stroll 2024, each vendor is encouraged to carry his/her own product liability insurance.
