Bart Parsons and Lara Ducie of Grand Central KTA Pty Ltd, are conducting this consumer survey to gauge the public interest of the proposed contemporary food and beverage premises to be known as the Grand Central Karratha, to operate under a Tavern Restricted Licence. The Tavern Restricted licence is required to ensure that the premises has the flexibility to cater to a diverse range of consumer requirements.
The proposed premises will be located within the new Tambrey Village Shopping Centre, as part of Landcorp's new Tambrey Shopping Precinct in the suburb of Nickol in Karratha WA.
As stated in the Karratha Local Planning Policy: "Karratha has evolved to become the major service centre of the region. The Karratha City Centre has become a true destination for visitors to the Pilbara region."
The Grand Central Karratha operating under a Tavern Restricted Licence (subject to approval) will offer the following diverse amenity:
Provide a modern food and beverage amenity in the new, Tambrey Neighbourhood Centre development,
Provide an alternative licensed premises within walking distance for residents in Nickol, Millars Well and Baynton,
Include a contemporary American style food offering using local WA produce,
The beverage menu will reflect a range of beer, wine and spirits, including American Rye Whiskey,
The premises will cater to up to 350 persons at any one time.
The premises will have a high quality fit-out that will accommodate a variety of uses including (but not limited to) dining, informal business meetings, cocktail functions, and socialising with colleagues, family, or friends.
Entertainment will include contemporary music, live sports viewing and special event days, and
The proposed premises will be in keeping with the City of Karratha’s vision for the city to diversify and become a world-class food, beverage, cultural and entertainment hub.
The Applicant recognises that there is a degree of alcohol-related harm in the locality, and accordingly will implement the following harm minimisation strategies :
Entertainment will be background in nature that permits normal conversations to occur,
A variety of seating will be available throughout the premises, with the exception of pre-boooked functions and events,
Food will be available until 30 minutes before the close of trade,
Low and non-alcoholic beverages will be available at all times,
The premises will abide by all of the requirements of the Karratha Liquor Restrictions and any resolutions of the West Pilbara Liquor Accord,
The premises will not be advertised or promoted as a 'Tavern', and
The premises will have extensive CCTV coverage throughout including entry and exit.
This competed survey will be provided to the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to assist the Director of Licensing to determine if the application for the Grand Central Karratha to operate under a Tavern Restricted Licence is in the public interest or not.
