Introduction and Presenter Acceptance

“There is a perversity in the learning process: We look backward at history and tradition to go forward; we can also look downward to go upward. And withholding judgment may be used as a tool to make later judgment more sensitive. This is a way of learning from everything.”

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas! Once a dusty desert railroad stop on the old San Pedro, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake Railroad Railroad, we mixed images and metaphors, remixed symbols and space, and intermixed ideas and identities to become the entertainment capital of the world. For over 50 years, Las Vegas and its ever-evolving landscape have been significant in popular discourse as a place to be learned from; and now we welcome you to add your learning to the A4LE Southwest regional conference mix!

“Evolving Environments: Learning in Las Vegas” looks backward at the history and tradition of the educational environment, alongside its present and future, in order to move forward more sensitively into the next 50 years of learning environments. The A4LE Southwest regional conference looks to learn from everything from a multi-disciplinary perspective by looking at learning environments in higher education, traditional K-12 settings, non-traditional lifelong learning spaces, and libraries.

The “Evolving Environments: Learning in Las Vegas” conference invites you to enhance the educational experience by applying to share what you have learned about the evolving educational environment at our conference!
