The “micro-lending” for Philanthropy in Greater Philadelphia

We must redirect our efforts toward the urgent necessity of making our democracy more fully representative of our population. We must support people in finding their own solutions, boosting their sense of agency, and supporting them in building their own communities (Strategic Philanthropy Has Failed. What's Next? by Mark Kramer and Steve Phillips.

The Greater Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal and Greater Philadelphia Social Innovations Awards, through a Collaborative Impact Fund (the “Fund”) addresses the inequities that currently exist in the Greater Philadelphia Philanthropic ecosystem. The Fund is positioned to serve as the micro-grant infrastructure arm of Greater Philadelphia foundations providing grassroots and small nonprofits the opportunity to access capital in the form of grants. The Fund encourages and supports the spark and incubation of new social sector ideas, innovations and collaborations across sectors.

The Fund will make small grants to change makers through small nonprofits, fiduciaries or businesses, directed by The Fund Partners, to support the seeding, exploration or implementation of an idea, innovation, or collaborative. The Fund will support projects serving Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and/or Philadelphia counties.
