Name the Greenway! |
A new greenway is coming soon along the Hodiamont Tracks.
While this corridor has been called the Hodiamont Tracks for many years, you can determine a name that reflects the stories, histories and priorities of the community.
The name Hodiamont is recognizable and pays tribute to the streetcar history of the corridor, there are several reasons why the name might not be the preferred greenway choice. These reasons include possible confusion between this East-West corridor with the North-South running Hodiamont Avenue, and the fact that some portions of the Track are known as the Suburban Tracks, and not the Hodiamont Tracks. Another issue is that Emmanuel DeHodiamont who the Tracks were named for, enslaved people in the 1800’s to work on his farm. As with other portions of this projects, the name of this greenway will be driven by the community.
