About the Scholarship
Individuals from underserved populations face formidable barriers to accessing crime victim services such as culturally competent advocacy, language access, and comprehensive legal services, making it essential for organizations who work with these populations to be trained on how to address stalking. In order to increase the capacity of trainers who work with marginalized or underserved communities, we are giving scholarship preference to professionals who work with marginalized and underserved communities, including, but not limited to: African-American, Latin@, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Asian/Pacific Islander populations; persons with disabilities; Deaf/Hard of Hearing persons; LGBTQ persons; and immigrants and refugees.
Because there are no fees for attending the conference, the $1,000 travel stipend can be used for lodging, transportation, and meal per diem. Scholarship recipients must pay up-front for their travel expenses, but will be reimbursed up to $1,000 following the conference. Recipients MUST be able to cover any remaining travel expenses. If you are an OVW grantee, you can check with your grant monitor to see if grant funds can be used to cover any remaining travel expenses.
