Guiding Council of Western Mass
Membership Application
The Guiding Council of Western Mass (GCOW) was founded in 2005, before the Wildflower Alliance (WA, formerly known as the Western Mass Recovery Learning Community or RLC) was even funded. (Funding first occurred in 2007.) GCOW acts as the advisory board to the WA, and helps provide 'big picture' guidance and input.
GCOW needs new Council Delegates from all four counties of Western Massachusetts! Council Delegates are people from the community who are not working as WA employees, and who are able to commit to attending regular meetings in person and/or by phone/computer. (Meetings are also open to others, but only Council Delegates who have been confirmed by existing members of GCOW have voting rights, or any closed sessions that may occur.)
Can you commit to once-per-month meetings in person or by phone? (Meetings take place on-line for now, and when meeting in person, in Holyoke on the first Friday of each month from 12:30pm to 2pm, with lunch served when meeting in person. Call or Web-Conference-in options will be available even when meeting in person.)
Our ideal membership would include three to four people from each of the four counties who are able to attend regularly.
Complete this application expressing your interest in joining, and GCOW members will review it and get back to you as soon as possible (and no later than a week following their next scheduled meeting)! Typically, we will ask candidates who seem like a potential match to attend a meeting both so they can check out what its like, and so existing GCOW members can conduct a mini interview of the candidate within the meeting itself.
We are especially looking for Guiding Council members from Franklin County and the Berkshires! (Travel stipends are available for those who need support to attend by car or public transit.)
