Overview and Consent

In the past, several caregivers have noted an association between use of antibiotics during illness and a change in seizure activity. However, to date there has been no formal research to understand how strong this association is or what the actual interaction between antibiotics, illness, and seizures may be. Recently, a caregiver in the Dravet community, Barbara Swoyer, brought this topic to the attention of a clinician-researcher, Dr. Chris McGraw, who is interested in investigating this further.

DSF is working with Dr. McGraw and Barbara to find caregivers that are willing to share more about their experiences with this topic. If your child has a history of seizures that respond positively to antibiotics, either associated with strep or another illness, and you would like to participate in this study (likely later this fall), please complete this survey form.
-
The information you provide will be shared with Dr. McGraw and his study team. Dr. McGraw is currently transitioning from Mass General Hospital in Boston to Northwestern in IL, so there may be a short delay in follow-up with participants.
