In June 2024, Macoupin County Public Health Department was awarded a Firearm Safe Storage Strategies grant through the Illinois Department of Public Health. The purpose of the grant is to implement components of a public awareness campaign outlined in the Safe Gun Storage Public Awareness Campaign Act (Public Act 102-1067). In addition, a goal of this grant is to expand the implementation of objectives in the Making Illinois Safer: Strategic Plan 2018-2022 to build capacity at the state and local level for evidence-based injury prevention so communities can reduce and prevent injuries, violence, and suicide.

Objective of this survey: Determine the interest and/or need for a distribution event in your community. If space allows, distribution events will be held as drive-thru events. The items included in a community distribution event will include: small gun safes (with capacity to fit 3 rifles), large gun safes (with capacity to fit 5 rifles), handgun lock boxes and cable gun locks.

Distribution of gun safes and locks is dependent upon while supplies last and items will be provided at no cost to recipients.

Personal information is not required in this survey and it is not required to participate in the receipt/distribution of the items.
