WV Parent Training and Information - GUIDING THE JOURNEY 2024

GUIDING THE JOURNEY, A Transition Training for Parents, is a collaboration between WV Parent Training and Information, Inc. and WV Department of Education—Guideposts to Graduation, which supports parents and caregivers of transition-age students.

Thank you for your interest in GUIDING THE JOURNEY, A Transition Training for Parents Collaborative.
The group will meet beginning in August 2024 and May 2025. We estimate the monthly time commitment to average 1.0 -1.5 hours. In addition to learning about the transition process and the 'parent' role, we will bring in a variety of speakers to provide additional information that parents need to know.
Meetings and activities will be virtual, with possible hybrid training.
We will have 25 parents/caregivers in each group.
All participating members:
· Will be parents, caregivers, or family members.
· Youth aged 14 to 16+ preparing for post-secondary transition and due
to parent requests, we will also accept parents of children ages 9-13.
· Youth must have a disability and an IEP or 504
· Will accept younger students (ages 9-13) if there is space (student must have disability and IEP or 504)

Participant selection will be based on the following areas of priority:
1. Diversity
2. Geographical representation and need
3. Disability
4. Race
5. Ethnicity
