Nomination Deadline: Friday, September 6, 2024.

Criteria
  • The matter (“Matter”) must involve two or more jurisdictions and be noteworthy (this can be due to scale of the transaction, if a sale, or simply a matter that resulted in a landmark judgement on a matter of international concern – e.g., a precedent-setting decision under chapter 15 or a foreign equivalent, or a sale that required coordination between courts in different countries).
  • The foregoing are just intended to be examples and are not intended to limit the types of matters that can be considered.
  • It is not required that the Matter involve a court in one or both jurisdictions.
  • The Matter should have a connection to the United States.
  • There should be an explanation as to the unique issue(s) addressed/solutions offered and how the Matter facilitates (or will hinder) international cooperation in relation to distressed businesses.
  • The dollar amount of the Matter is not relevant.

Eligibility
  • The Matter must have occurred between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024.
  • The person submitting the nomination must be a member of both the American Bankruptcy Institute (the “ABI”) and the ABI International Committee (the “IC”). Self-nominations are permitted.
  • The person submitting the nomination must include (1) each firm/company that played a substantial role in the matter; (2) who such firm/company represented and (3) contact information for someone at each firm/company (cannot be someone in the marketing department).

Award
  • The winners of the award shall be the firms/companies that substantially contributed to the Matter as reflected in the nomination (the “Team”).
  • The IC will announce the winning Team during its presentation at the ABI International North American Insolvency Program, being held on November 6, 2024, in New York City, and the person submitting the nomination for the winning Team (or another person from the winning Team) must attend the program.
  • The winning Team will be recognized in the IC's newsletter and on the IC’s webpage. Depending on publication dates, the winners may also be recognized in (1) one or more of ABI’s weekly or monthly email publications, and (2) the ABI Journal (in the Inside ABI section). The IC also may choose to promote and recognize other Teams in addition to the winning Team.
