Charlottetown Zoning and Development Bylaw Review 2025

About this Survey

The City of Charlottetown is undergoing a 5-year review and update of its Zoning and Development Bylaw. The City of Charlottetown has retained Fathom Studio and Trace Studio to oversee the preparation of the updated bylaw to align with the city’s Official Plan which is currently pending adoption. The Zoning and Development Bylaw and the Official Plan will be coordinated to provide a framework for the future land use policies and regulations in the City of Charlottetown.

Like many cities in Canada, Charlottetown is in the midst of a housing crisis and there is an urgent need for new and more diverse forms of housing for existing and future residents of one of the fastest growing cities in Canada. The updated bylaw must address the requirements of the Federal Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) while retaining the quality and character of neighbourhoods in the city.

We appreciate you taking the time to answer a few questions to help inform the updated bylaw.
