Maternal Mortality Review Committee |
The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking applications for members of the Georgia Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC).
As a MMRC member, you will play a crucial role in maternal mortality surveillance and prevention. The MMRC reviews all deaths occurring within a year of the end of pregnancy in Georgia to determine whether the death was related to pregnancy and identify what could have been done to prevent the death. Your expertise will be instrumental in determining what factors contributed to these deaths and how they can be prevented.
Responsibilities:
The following activities are required for participation on the committee:
- Participate in one 1.5 hour subcommittee meeting prior to the full MMRC meeting.
- Participate in full MMRC meetings (5 to 7 full-day, in-person meetings per year) and present subcommittee findings. Meetings are held in-person in the Atlanta area.
- Utilizing your expertise, participate in the discussion to make key determinations, including identifying factors contributing to the death and making recommendations for prevention.
- Review case narratives and committee decisions forms prior to the MMRC meeting.
- Ensure the confidentiality of the maternal mortality review process.

How to Apply: Complete the online application by December 6, 2024. Applications will be reviewed and scored by the MMRC staff and DPH leadership. Applicants selected through the scoring process will be required to undergo a background check and complete an interview with MMRC staff and DPH leadership. Additional consideration will be given to ensure the committee is comprised of individuals from various organizations and areas of the state when making final membership determinations.
