Application Submission Requirements
Please review the application requirements below before submitting your application. This application cannot be saved therefore if you do not have all of the below documents you will not be able to complete the application.
In order to complete your application today you must have the following supporting documentation prepared as a part of your application:

3. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation - Please provide letters of recommendation from two sponsors. One letter should be from the applicant’s department chair or supervisor, and the other from one of the host laboratory/department chair or supervisor. Both sponsors must be IPITA members in good standing.
The letters should include objectives for the trainee’s scientific development, potential for academic achievement, teaching/mentorship experience and potential, and research plans for the applicant during the research period.
Submission and Review Process:
Applications should be submitted electronically via this form by January 17, 2025. Other application formats will not be accepted. The applications will then be distributed and reviewed by the Awards Committee comprised of IPITA Councilors.
Other important requirements/Information:
- The awardee will be informed in writing by the Awards Committee In February 2025.
- The awardee is expected to submit the names and contact information of the host institution and scientists to where they intend to travel within 2 months of the acceptance of the award. Brief letters of acceptance by the host scientist are expected to accompany this information. The host institutions/scientists proposed by the awardee are subject to approval by the Awards Committee.
- The name of the awardee will be officially announced during the 2025 IPITA Congress taking place on June 15-18, 2025 being held in Pisa, Italy. The awardee is expected to attend the Congress to accept the award.
- The awardee is expected to complete travel within 18 months of the presentation of the award and to provide a 500-word written report of their experience to the IPITA within 6 months of completed travel.
- The awardee will be required to give a 5-10 min scientific presentation at the 2027 Congress (TBD) following their travel.
- Applicants must hold an IPITA trainee membership.
- The Award is intended to be used exclusively for the expenses related to the proposed and approved travel activities.
