About the Co-Chair Role
The Friends for life Bike Rally are looking for the next Co-Chair. Leadership is key to the success of the Bike Rally and the volunteer Co-Chair will play a big part in the planning and execution of the Bike Rally.
Role:
The Role of the Co-Chair is to provide leadership to the Bike Rally volunteer community. Responsible to set a vision and goals for the event, Steering Committee and support and direct the Committee to achieve those goals. To represent the volunteer perspective on the Executive Committee and work closely with PWA’s Development Manager to ensure the approved annual strategy is being implemented by volunteers and staff.
Co-Chairs are the public face of the Rally and embody and encourage the grassroots, volunteer-driven mandate of the event, which is the key driver of recruitment and fundraising success. Co-Chairs are the Stewards of the Bike Rally community.
Responsibilities:
• Set expectations with Steering Committee members for the applicable year within the context of the Bike Rally’s identified long-term priorities, goals, and strategic directions as well as those of PWA.
• Participation at all strategic planning session to include goal setting, recruitment, fundraising, event logistics, processes and procedures, documentation, and budgets.
• Actively participate on the Executive Committee.
• Provide support, coaching, consultation, and advice to Steering Committee Members.
• Coordinate Steering Committee meetings.
• Act as the public representatives of the Bike Rally in the community.
• Work closely with PWA’s Development Manager and event staff to execute the event.
• Participation and presence at Bike Rally events.
• Stewardship to the Bike Rally Community.
• Engagement with other ASO’s and community members.

Term Expectations:
• The Co-Chair role is a minimum two-year term with a third term option.
• The Third term role would be a strategic leadership development and mentorship role.
• To serve on the Bike Rally Executive for three terms.
Time Commitment:
Time requirements fluctuate throughout the year and increase around the time of the event. These are in addition to any regular participant activities (i.e. recruitment activities, training, socials, etc.) The below are typical averages:
September-December: 2-4 hours per week
January-May: 4-6 hours per week
June-August: 6-8 hours per week
These time estimates include bi-weekly Operations Team meetings, one monthly Steering Committee Meeting, quarterly Executive Committee meetings, and regular meetings with individual steering portfolios, as required.
