The Colonel Glenn A. Farris Scholarship recognizes the importance of hard work and dedication. Colonel Farris, a West Point graduate, had a distinguished military career and served as a member of the University of Florida Army ROTC cadre. After retiring, he dedicated ten years (1963-1973) at UF as a Foreign Student Advisor, assisting hundreds of exiled Cubans in gaining admission to the university.
This scholarship awards $1,500 grants to deserving undergraduate or graduate students attending the University of Florida.
Application Requirements
A complete application will include:
- Resume/CV (maximum of 2 pages)
- One letter of recommendation
- A short essay response
- Copy of student transcript(s)
- Ability to demonstrate financial need
Undergraduate and Graduate Applicant Criteria
- Open to well-rounded UF students who excel in leadership, service, and scholarship at the University of Florida and in the Hispanic-Latino community
- Scholarship funds are only applicable to UF programs of study
- Student must be enrolled in the Fall 2025 semester
- Undergraduate: Currently enrolled at UF seeking a bachelor’s degree, and must have completed two full-time semesters or equivalent
- Graduate: Must be in a current UF graduate program of study OR have been accepted into a UF graduate program of study
- Transcript required 3.0 GPA in undergrad coursework; 3.25 for graduate
- Must not have been prior winner of the Farris scholarship
