Introduction
SURVEY WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL APRIL 30. PLEASE TELL US WHAT YOUR NEEDS ARE IN LIGHT OF COVID-19. THERE ARE SEVERAL SECTIONS IN THE SURVEY WHERE YOU AN FILL IN "OTHER" WHERE YOU CAN TELL US WHAT YOU NEED.
The National Network of Legal Clinics for the Arts is a joint endeavour of three organizations: Artists’ Legal Outreach (ALO) in Vancouver, Artists’ Legal Advice Services (ALAS) in Toronto and the Artists’ Legal Services Ottawa (ALSO) working in collaboration with Cultural Pluralism in the Arts Movement Ontario (CPAMO – www.cpamo.org).
There are presently five legal clinics providing critical capacity support to individual creators, arts organizations, their administrators, technicians and other arts professionals in performance, literary, digital/media and visual arts. They offer an online database of resources and dozens of educational opportunities annually (e.g. workshops and conferences). Responding to the urgent and varied legal questions and needs of artists, these forums foster and strengthen arts and culture networks through new collaborations and networking.
Over the next 3 months, the project team will oversee preliminary research on current resources and gaps in existing legal services for creators in Canada. This will include a needs assessment and a series of focus groups with stakeholders. The foundation and formalization of a network of legal clinics for the arts will substantially strengthen our ability to provide legal information, advice and education from Coast to Coast to Coast. We are seeking your input and inviting you to participate in the survey below. This survey seeks information on the current perception of legal challenges from artists, arts administrators and arts organizations and if actions are being taken to address them. In particular, the survey sets out to inquire what the legal needs of the arts & culture sector are and how artists, arts administrators and arts organizations access legal information, education or advice.

- area(s) of legal needs;
- access to legal services; and
- questions for lawyers
The survey should take about 5-10 minutes to complete and will be assessed using analytical methods based on quantitative and qualitative responses received.
