New!! Additional Contemporary Dance Opportunity!
Miss Hannah will be directing our NYCDA Performance Ensemble. The Ensemble will prepare a group contemporary piece to perform at the New York City Dance Alliance competition in Nashville this December. Dancers (and their parents or other designated chaperone) will travel to Nashville from December 16-18 for a weekend of convention/master classes and the opportunity to perform and compete as a group. You can learn more about the Nashville regional competition here: https://www.nycdance.com/regionals/what-to-expect
The NYCDA ensemble will rehearse on Wednesdays as follows:
5:30-6:45pm on October 26, November 2, 9, 16
3:15-4:45pm on December 7, 14
**We may also add rehearsal from 5:30-6:45pm on December 7 & 14, if needed as competition draws closer.**
The ensemble is open to all dancers in Advanced and Level 5, as well as Level 4 dancers by invitation only.
The cost to participate in this Ensemble is $150, which includes rehearsal time and costumes provided by Project Ballet, as well as a small contribution towards Miss Hannah's travel expenses.
In addition, you will be responsible for paying your own entry fees, competition fees and travel costs to NYCDA. (PB will coordinate the payments that go directly to NYCDA, but each dancer will cover their own fees.) The entry fees for two days of master classes and for the competition are approximately $350 per dancer, in addition to your travel expenses for a weekend in Nashville.
This is not an inexpensive opportunity, however it is invaluable for those dancers who enjoy the competition environment and/or want to broaden their contemporary dance experience!
Note: Dancers will also be welcomed/encouraged to perform as a contemporary soloist, if they desire. Contemporary soloists can arrange to have their solo choreographed and cleaned by one of our PB faculty members, or can arrange for an outside choreographer. (Students receiving tuition assistance must go through PB and cannot use an outside choreographer.) All expenses related to the choreography, private lessons and competition fees required of the soloist will be the responsibility of the dancer and their family. If you are interested in performing as a soloist please reach out to Miss Hannah: coaching@projectballet.org
