Elephant Rocks State Park CDP Survey #2 |
Introduction
Conceptual development plans (CDPs) guide the future use and development at each state park and historic site. CDPs support the mission, purpose and direction of each facility. These long-range plans outline area use, site goals, development objectives, research needs and project phasing while taking into consideration the significant natural, cultural and recreational resources of the park or site. This survey is part of the division’s ongoing effort to ensure that the public has input on state park and historic site development.
Site Mission
The mission of Elephant Rocks State Park is to preserve and interpret the outstanding local geology, particularly the features of the ancient granite rocks (elephants) found within its boundaries and the local quarrying industry. A second mission component is to provide quality recreational experiences consistent with the management efforts to protect the park’s natural resources.
