District Use of ESSER Funds

Welcome

Since 2020, federal funding has been made available to New Jersey school districts through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER).

The ESSER funds have come in three tranches: ESSER I (authorized by the CARES Act), ESSER II (authorized by CRRSA) and ARP (American Rescue Plan) ESSER.

There is a wide range of allowable uses for the funding, including—but not limited to—programs and resources to address learning loss, student mental health, summer and extended-day learning, career readiness,  educational technology, professional development, supplies to sanitize schools, and facility repairs and improvements that will reduce the risk of virus transmission and support student health needs.

NJSBA would like to shine a spotlight on the specific impactful ways in which districts have used—and are currently using—the funding to assist students and improve public education.

Please take a few moments to fill out the survey.
