Introduction - Terms of Reference
The primary function of the Equestrian Queensland Next Generation Advisory Group (EQ Next Gen) is to act as a source of advice to the Equestrian Queensland (EQ) Board about opportunities to engage, connect and support young people in equestrian sport.

- Support EQ Sport Committees to engage with youth members and deliver initiatives that encourage continued participation across all areas of the sport.
- Improve and develop communication with youth members and sport committees at all levels.
- Identify mentoring opportunities for youth members across all competition and discipline levels.
- Develop networks and resources for youth members to support multiple pathways across the sport.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the EQ Next Gen are to:
- Make recommendations to the EQ Board about opportunities to improve engagement with youth members.
- Develop new opportunities for youth members to be involved in the coordination, delivery and /or management of equestrian activities in Queensland.
- Positively contribute to existing EQ Next Gen initiatives.
- Support the development of educational opportunities for youth members in Queensland.
- Communicate with youth members and other stakeholders through EQ.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team and work constructively with others who may have different idea and views.
- Demonstrate the values of EQ ‘Welfare of the Horse & Member Safety, Fair Play, Accountability, Integrity and Respect’ through all interactions and act as an advocate for EQ.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Attend a minimum of 8 out of 10 planned meetings throughout the year either in person or via zoom.

Membership
- The EQ Next Gen consists of up to 14 members, with up to five representatives from each sport discipline.
- EQ Next Gen members must be between the ages of 17 – 25 (across calendar year)
- EQ Next Gen members must be a current financial member of EQ.
- EQ Next Gen members are appointed by the EQ Board.
- EQ Next Gen members must maintain an 80% attendance rate at scheduled monthly meetings across the calendar year.
Support
- The EQ Board and EQ Office will provide ongoing support for the EQ Next Gen through mentoring and project management support.
- The EQ Board and or CEO at their discretion may provide funding to support initiatives developed by the EQ Next Gen subject to budget.
Professional Development
- The EQ Board and CEO will provide two (2) professional development workshops per calendar year to be attended by EQ Next Gen members.
- The EQ Board and CEO at their discretion may provide support for applications to relevant external PD opportunities.
Term & Appointments
- Appointments to the EQ Next Gen will be determined by the EQ Board.
- Members of the EQ Next Gen are appointed in a voluntary capacity for a term of two (2) years.
- Members of the EQ Next Gen may serve a maximum of four (4) consecutive terms.
