Event Description

TRAINING OPPORTUNITY:
The European Observatory of Online Hate (EOOH) is an AI-powered platform dedicated to identifying (illegal) online hate speech across all EU languages, plus Arabic and Russian. By supporting real-time tracking and reporting of harmful content on both mainstream and fringe online platforms, EOOH offers a vital resource in the fight for safer, more inclusive digital spaces. Online hate speech endangers both users and democratic discourse. The European Commission, through the Digital Services Act, empowers national stakeholders to counter this threat. Cooperation among the European Commission, Digital Services Coordinators, law enforcement, civil society, and platforms is essential for meaningful change.

The EOOH training programme brings together diverse actors among civil society, policymakers, and law enforcement across the EU together to forge lasting partnerships on combatting online hate speech.

This training is for professionals based in the EU.

By participating in this training, you will:
  • Engage in collaborative exercises with civil society, policymakers, and law enforcement to exchange on how to most effectively investigate, report and prosecute (illegal) online hate and harmful content;
  • Strengthen relationships with other EU member state and national actors, deepening understanding of each others’ needs, challenges, and potential.
  • Gain three months’ access the EOOH innovative AI-powered platform, which works in all EU languages (as well as Arabic and Russian) across 8 platforms to collate harmful content by theme, violence, toxicity, key terms, presenting this minutely and through digestible data visualisations. This allows users to build customised channels to ensure relevant insights, and supports reporting under the DSA;
This training will empower to participants to report and respond to hate speech more decisively and effectively. Become one of the key players in fostering a safer, more respectful online environment across Europe by taking part in the training.

The training event will be held over the course of two days on a lunch-to-lunch agenda. A networking dinner will be provided for participants in the evening of the first day of training. Travel and accommodation will be arranged for participants and catering provided throughout the event.

There are 5 training events in 2025 in European cities. Trainings will be held throughout the year, and take place in: Belgium, Germany, Czechia, Spain and Poland. Qualified participants may be matched to the training that best meets their availability and best allows them to build partnerships. All trainings will be conducted in English.

More than one representative of each organisation may attend the training. You are welcome to share this registration portal with colleagues whose work also intersects with online hate speech and harmful content. We are eager to support (developing) centres of expertise.

Please complete the registration form on the next page if you wish to participate in an EOOH training. Your application will be reviewed and you will receive a follow-up email from the EOOH team on your potential participation.
