The Friends of Passaic County Parks, Inc. proposes a new project entitled Rehabilitation & Site Improvements at the Harry S. Vreeland House. The Harry S. Vreeland house is the only habitable building remaining on the former Vreeland-Rhinesmith Property, now referred to as the Highland Meadows Property. The site is part of the Passaic County Park System. The structure was built between 1905-1908 on the farm of the Vreeland Family. With open meadows, and proximity to land owned and administered by the State Park Service and several hiking trails, the project includes adaptively reusing the historic site to host community and educational programs in conjunction with conversation and preservation. The project will have ADA accessibility upgrades, new parking features, installation of public restrooms, and rehabilitation of the entire Harry S. Vreeland House.
