The BDA Roles and Responsibilities guidance provides information and guidance on the roles and responsibilities relevant to nutrition and dietetic practice. It is for members of the support workforce who provide direct service user care in a clinical or public health setting such as hospitals, outpatients and community settings including service users homes, nursing homes and schools.

It has been developed as an extension to the ‘Professional Practice’ pillar within the BDA Career Framework, which is due to launch later this year.

The guidance refers to two levels of practice for the support workforce; ‘Supportive’ and ‘Assistive’. Individuals who undertake direct service user care, within nutrition and dietetic practice, should be practicing at one of these levels.

Throughout the guidance, the term 'dietetic support workforce' has been abbreviated to DSW.

Before completing the survey, please read through the draft guidance document, which is available to view here, and refer to this when answering the questions. We have also provided a link to specific sections of the guidance, where relevant, throughout the survey.
