Welcome to the AAPL Board of Directors 2025-2029 application process.

By applying to be a Board Director with the American Association for Physician Leadership, you are demonstrating your commitment to Physician Leadership. All members of the Association are eligible to apply.

Board members serve a four-year term, with Board Meetings held once a quarter in person or virtually. Board members will need to be available to attend in-person meetings, AAPL Institutes and conferences. Additionally, Board Members are generally assigned to at least one Board Committee.
SELECTION CRITERIA REQUIREMENTS FOR BOARD MEMBERS

To be on the AAPL Board of Directors, in addition to being an active member of the Association, applicants must also be:
  • a Certified Physician Executive (CPE); and/or
  • hold Fellowship with the Association (FAAPL, DFAAPL or FACPE).
Applicants should also have the following qualifications:
  • Previous board experience
  • Previous operational experience: managing people, information and budgets
  • Regional or national recognition as a physician leader through teaching, writing, speaking or contributing to the health care leadership above and beyond what is expected from the current employer
