  • Are employed as a hiring, line or recruitment manager or in a leadership role
  • Have experience recruiting, managing or training staff
  • Have insight into their organisation's employment practices
  • Are interested in recruitment and ongoing work being more accessible and inclusive for people with mental ill health or psychosocial disability
  • Want to take part in helping create a learning and development program
Background

Neami National have partnered with Get Skilled Access on a new project. Neami National is a mental health organisation and Get Skilled Access is a disability inclusion organisation.
We’re working together to create a new learning program to:

  1. Support people with mental ill health and psychosocial disability to find and keep a job, and
  2. Support employers to provide safe, supported, accessible and inclusive work opportunities for people with mental ill-health and psychosocial disability.
Our project is funded to support Australians with disability so we use the term people with “psychosocial disability”. This is different from the language we normally use at Neami. For the purpose of this program, it refers to anyone who may experience barriers or require supports at work due to any mental health experiences.

Lived experience is an important part of how we do things, and most of our project team also have lived experience of mental ill-health or disability.

To help create the learning program, we are holding separate workshops with employer representatives and people with lived-experience of mental ill health and psychosocial disability.
What to expect

Taking part will include:

  • An initial phone call or online meeting with someone from our project team to get to know each other better and hear more about the project (30 minutes)
  • Reading information that we send out before the workshops (up to 1 hour)
  • 2 online workshops with a small group of employers and managers (2.5 hours each, 5 hours total)

The workshops will happen in August and September 2022 on a weekday. We will confirm the dates around your availability and the availability of other people taking part.

It’s ok if this is your first time taking part in a workshop. We will give you information before the workshops and support you.

This is a volunteer opportunity to help improve access and inclusion of employment for people with mental ill health and psychosocial disability. Get in touch with us if you need financial or other support to participate.

We can arrange an interpreter for any meetings. We can also support you with your application or if you have any access requirements.
