Demos from Peel
WAM’s excited to put the call out to songwriters and acts of all ages, levels of experience and music genres from the Peel region, asking them to register their interest by January 31, 2020 to take part of the next recording program compilation. Selected participants will then start recording in March 2020, with the final tracks released digitally and physically on the Demos from Peel compilation in 2020.
The selection criteria WAM follows when selecting acts include:
- Representing artists from across the whole Peel region.
- Ensuring there is representation across multiple generations. (Under 17, 18-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54 and 55 and over).
- Gender equity in the acts chosen.
- A range of music genres.
- Representing acts ranging from those who are very experienced, through to others, for whom this will be their first professional recording experience.
WAM's ‘Sounds Of’ and ‘Demos From’ programs bring recording studios to regional centres, building a pop-up studio and recording original tracks for a compilation album, to be released on CD and digitally for national radio and music industry consumption. The participants leave the studio with a professionally recorded track that they own the rights to, and can be used completely for their own purposes and financial gains.
WAM also offers the opportunity for those interested to further develop their skills in studio sound engineering. This unique experience to work alongside West Australia's premiere sound engineers and producers is an incredible chance to up-skill those interested in music production in the Kimberley.
PLEASE NOTE
- Successful applicants must be residents of the Peel region, or have been for at least 12 months.
- Artists of ALL levels of experience are being sought – from beginners to already successful artists!
- Applicants cannot have been featured as the main act/artist/songwriter on a previous ‘Sounds of’ or ‘Demos From’ project.
- Studio sound engineer applicants need only to have had an introductory knowledge level of production to be accepted.
