2024 NZRL Wheelchair Rugby League - Expression of Interest
New Zealand Rugby League is seeking expression of interest for players and management for the New Zealand Wheelchair Rugby League campaign.
Wheelchair Rugby League is in its infancy in New Zealand, with a small hub of activity in Auckland created through NZRL, Warriors Community Foundation, Disability Sport Auckland, Auckland Rugby League and Counties Manukau Rugby League.
The New Zealand Wheelchair team are scheduled to play against Australia in a two (2) test match series, in Auckland in early November. These test matches will be International matches used qualify New Zealand for the 2026 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup.
Wheelchair Rugby League is an inclusive sport, the sport closely mirrors Rugby League; albeit without scrums, tackling or traditional play-the-balls. Teams are made up of eight (8) players, with five on the court at any given time. Two able-bodied players are allowed per team.
