Question Title

* 1. In which classes are your children enrolled this year?

Question Title

* 2. How long have your children been at IA? (use the child who has been at IA the longest)

Last year we consolidated our LCAP goals into five areas: use of assessment to inform instruction, quality instructional practices, providing teachers and students with high quality materials and resources, decreasing absences/tardies and developing strong   parent-school partnership.

If you would like to read the LCAP, you can find it on our website under the FINANCE tab on the HOME page or in the front office.
This part of the survey is going to ask for your feedback and suggestions regarding LCAP goals that directly impact parents. This survey is anonymous. Feel free to skip any question or give input not solicited in the questions at the end of the survey.
Thank you.

Question Title

* 3. LCAP goal 1 is about assessment and understanding student progress.

Currently all students in our 5 day program are given specific assessments at the beginning and end of the school year.
K-8: Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA)
2-8: Measure of Academic Progress (NWEA MAP- for math, language arts, reading)

K-8 all students (that don't opt out) are given statewide assessment (CAASPP)

HLC parents meet regularly with teachers to support student progress.

K-8 all students are given a variety of assessments throughout the school year.
Progress is shared with parents in the following ways:
- Student led conferences (Oct)
- First exhibition (Dec)
- First report card (Jan)
- Portfolio review of student work (Feb)
- Second Exhibition (Mar)
- Presentations of Learning (POL in May-June)
- Second report card (June)

Question Title

* 4. LCAP Goal #2 is about classroom climate. Do you feel the climate of classrooms at IA is conducive to learning?

Question Title

* 5. I feel well informed about my child's behavior in class.

Question Title

* 6. At IA we use digital resources to support learning. Currently we utilize ipads in K-1 and chromebooks in 2-8. HLC students access technology as requested by teachers. With the use of technology comes software based learning. At IA our students use a variety of software applications to support learning. All students complete a designated amount of STMATH and reflex math.

Question Title

* 7. At IA we have a small number of students who are learning English as a second language (If your child is not learning English as a second language, please skip this question).

Question Title

* 8. LCAP Goal 5 is about improving attendance at IA. Our goal is to gather data about tardiness and absences and increase communication with parents of students who are chronically tardy or absent to find out how we can help as well as to set boundaries and support students. This is an area of need for us so all creative ideas can help.

Question Title

* 9. LCAP goal 5 is about parent education and inclusion in school activities. Since IA is a school with a philosophical structure that is very different than most schools and definitely the culture at large, we often experience misperceptions about what we are doing. Sometimes there can be a disconnect between parenting philosophies and school philosophy.

Question Title

* 10. We would like parents to be connected and informed. Which, if offered, would you go out of your way to attend?

Question Title

* 11. If the above were offered, when would you be most likely to come?

Question Title

* 12. What is the best way to communicate with you that would assure us that you would actually get the information (student progress, upcoming academic events (POL, Exhibition...), school events (dances, fundraisers...))?

Question Title

* 13. Is there anything at all that we did not ask that you would like to share with us that would help us improve as a school?
