Northeastern Vermont Regional Corporation Member (Corporator) Role Description

Corporators Are Important to NVRC and NVRH!
  • Members are an invaluable source of wisdom and perspective for current hospital leadership.
  • Members are key links in the essential communication system between members of our community and their hospital.
  • Members elect the Board of Directors of NVRC, who in turn elect the Board of Trustees of NVRH.

Basic Tasks of Members
  • Elect Directors of NVRC to fill any vacancies on the Board of Directors/Trustees.
  • Represent NVRH to their communities and their communities to NVRH.
  • Participate in a quarterly information and discussion meeting with management, staff, and Board leaders to discuss plans, concerns, and activities at NVRH.
  • Help identify Corporators who might become future Trustees/Directors.

Characteristics of Effective Members
  • Recognize and represent the diverse communities and people served by NVRH.
  • Attend the Annual Meetings and any special meetings of NVRC.
  • For Corporators, participate whenever possible in the quarterly meetings of Corporators.
  • Be informed about the mission, services, policies, and programs of NVRH.
  • Seek to learn about developments within the healthcare field.
  • Work for the good of our community hospital and those it serves.
