1. Welcome to the Crag Community Grant application form.

As part of the Harnessing the Power of Communities programme we are inviting applications from organisations to deliver one off, or a series of one off activities in the week of the Autumn half term, 28th October - 1st November 2024.

All activities must be delivered to residents of the Crag community area of Shipley.
Who can apply:
  • VCSE organisations from across the district.
Grant award value:
Awards granted will be between £50 and £500. Although we are happy to consider higher awards for exceptional ideas.
The value of the awarded grant will be based upon the type, duration and how many times an activity will be run.
When should activities take place:
These grant awards are to support one off, or a series of one off activities. Priority is given to family orientated/ children and young people's activities, but applications that seek to work with the wider Crag community will also be welcome i.e., older people, adult support activities etc.
  • Monday 28th October 2024
  • Tuesday 29th October 2024
  • Wednesday 30th October 2024
  • Thursday 31st October 2024
  • Friday 1st November 2024
Where should activities take place:
We want to demonstrate that the Crag community can be a fun, active place to live with opportunities for Crag residents... therefore we would ask that the majority of activities take place in the Crag community. That being said grant applications will be considered for activities that offer opportunities for residents to experience and do things they might otherwise not get a chance to do and that could be outside the Crag community.
The kind of things these grant awards can fund:
Priority is given to family orientated/ children and young people's activities, but applications that seek to work with the wider Crag community will also be welcome i.e., older people, adult support activities etc.
Important dates:
Grants open for applications 9th October 2024, 9am
Grants close for applications 17th October, midnight
Successful applicants notified by the 21st October 2024, 5pm

This is and extremely quick turn around and successful organisations must be ready to deliver for the week commencing 28th October 2024 (autumn half term week).
Reporting - Why we evaluate micro and small grants?
We think micro and small grants are good because they are accessible with simpler, less intimidating processes and quicker decision-making. We believe micro and small grants often offer value for money... a little goes a long way. Micro and small grants can provide “social glue” for community and grass-roots led activities.

But rather than ask you to complete a monitoring report we want to bring you all back together to feedback to each other, The VCSA (as the grant administrators) and most importantly to community members.

This seems like a really positive way of getting a shared understanding of what we could do better, what works well and last but not least hearing from community members first hand how the activities grantees delivered impacted in their community.

The VCSA will organise a time and date, in collaboration with delivery organisations, when this will happen.
