CONCEPT PLAN OPTIONS

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is working on Phase 1 of improvements to Corcoran Park. After receiving feedback from the community on the proposed concept plan, the MPRB staff made changes to the first proposal guided by the community’s comments and suggestions.  Please review the two revised concept plan options below and select the one you think should be presented to the Minneapolis Park Board of Commissioners for approval.

Question Title

REVISED CONCEPT PLAN - OPTION 1

Phase 1 of Improvements (2023): 
   
  • Upgrade Playground with more and new play equipment
  • Removal of the existing tennis court 
  • Expansion of the play area with a multi-use paved area with two hoops and seating walls
  • Addition of a community garden and orchard ( To be managed by the MPRB Community Garden Program)
  • Addition of a walking path to connect the east and west side of the park to improve circulation
  • Addition of a group shelter for community gatherings and performances
  • Addition of benches and picnic tables and drinking fountain
Phase 2 and 3  of Improvements (5-10 years): 
  • Addition of multi-use field  (grading and sodding)
  • Upgrade the wading Pool
  • Partial removal of the parking lot to add a community garden as suggested in the master plan or possible expansion of the play space. 
  • Potential addition of an entryway plaza for community gatherings.
  • Note:  Additional community engagement will be held for the design of the amenities listed above when funding becomes available for the second phase
