Overview of Volunteer Opportunity
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2019 Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County Second Chance Expungement and Sealing Summit.
The Summit is scheduled for June 1, 2019, at Westinghouse College Preparatory High School located at 3223 W. Franklin Blvd., Chicago, Illinois 60624.
You will be assigned to work in the Adult Expungement/Sealing Room where you will meet one-on-one with Summit attendees to review their criminal histories and the types of relief they are eligible to receive. If they are eligible to expunge or seal, you will prepare their petitions, obtain their signatures, and explain what they can expect to happen after they file their petitions.
Working under the supervision of CGLA staff and experienced volunteers, you will review court dispositions, record the outcomes of each case, and determine eligibility to expunge or seal as defined in the Illinois Criminal Identification Act. You will prepare petitions using forms that have been created as Excel workbooks.
