The enclosed materials are part of a study I am currently conducting at the Wright Institute about emotions in adult self-identified Chinese American children and their immigrant parents under the direction of Professor Dr. Lynn O’Connor.
Your participation will assist in this investigation. If you choose to participate, you will take part in a series of questionnaires given online about your experiences reared in North American culture and your relationship with your immigrant parents. Completion of the questions will take approximately 30 minutes. Your identity and any identifying information will be confidential. You may stop the questionnaires any time you wish.
1. Participation involves minimal risk to you beyond the possibility of some emotional discomfort in considering and responding to the topic and questions related to it.
2. There is no concrete compensation for your participation in this study other than the possibility of knowledge pertaining to emotions and the understanding their role in immigrant Asian parent and American child relations.
3. All participation will remain anonymous.
4. If you have any questions or problems as a result of participating in the study, you may contact me at any time.
5. Your participation is completely voluntary. Refusal to participate involves no penalty or loss of benefits and you may discontinue participation at any time or refuse to answer questions without penalty.
6. Results of the study will be available by request when the project has been completed, or you may refer to the Emotions, Personality, And Altruism Research Group’s website at http://wwww.eparg.org.
