Introduction

We ran an air quality campaign called ‘Fuel for Thought’ to raise awareness about local air pollution caused by domestic solid fuel burning and the effects this can have on health. Research with residents of York helped to shape this campaign, which ran between November 2023 and February 2024.

We'd now like to find out what you thought of that campaign and if your attitude towards solid fuel burners has changed. Everything is anonymous, and your answers will be used to evaluate our ‘Fuel for Thought’ air quality campaign and shape future campaigns.

The survey will help us to:
  • To understand the visibility and impact of the City of York Council air quality campaign
  • To see if there’s any change in knowledge and awareness of indoor and outdoor air pollution and links to health, especially in relation to domestic solid fuel burning.
  • To see if residents are more aware of any national campaigns (eg the government’s ‘Burn Better’ campaign) than since the original research was done
  • Provide feedback to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) who sponsored the campaign
Thank you for taking part.
