Bupe Innovation in Primary Care Survey for Providers Only
Introduction
Purpose: SOMOS Community Care has begun an initiative to promote primary care physicians to treat chronic pain patients and/or patients addicted to opioids.
This initiative is called the “BUPE Innovation in Primary Care”. BUPE (Buprenex, Buprenorphine, Butrans, Suboxone, Subutex) is not addicting but stops cravings, blocks withdrawal symptoms, and blocks the "high" from opioids.
It also helps protect people from risky behaviors and greatly reduces the likelihood of overdose. It can be prescribed in an office, filled in a local pharmacy, and taken at home like other medications.
We are conducting this survey to assess the use of Buprenorphine in the PCP settings, to provide education to providers on the advantages of obtaining the Buprenorphine waiver and the additional added value for the practice.
