Proposed changes to the Council Tax Support Scheme questionnaire |
Introduction
The Council Tax Support scheme is the council’s support scheme that helps people on low incomes pay their Council Tax. We are considering amending our Council Tax Support Scheme which will include for working age residents, a reduction of our maximum, award to 70%, a reduction in Income Bands from seven to five, and also include a Council Tax Band cap to Band C, when assessing claims.
The scheme will continue to help people who are on a low income or claiming certain benefits to pay some of their Council Tax bill. Pension age claimants will not be affected by the proposed changes to the scheme. The proposals will also mean the Council Tax Support scheme for working age claimants is simplified and will also help the council save money to be spent on other services that support the most vulnerable.
To find out more about our proposed changes and what they will mean for claimants, please read our Consultation Document and then complete this short questionnaire.
To ensure personal information about you is secure, all your answers will be treated in the strictest of confidence and stored securely in an anonymous format. We never release information that in any way allows an individual to be identified.
