Purpose of the Needs Assessment

The Waquoit Bay Coastal Training Program (CTP) provides science-based information, tools, and skills to regional and local decision-makers to assist them in managing coastal resources throughout Massachusetts.

Our programs are designed to convene decision-makers and support them in their roles with knowledge and skills so they can help solve real-world problems. To be most effective, we need to hear from you about the challenges you're facing! The purpose of this needs assessment is to determine the current training and technical assistance needs of coastal decision-makers in Massachusetts.

The Coastal Training Program (CTP) defines coastal decision-makers as individuals or groups who regularly make decisions about coastal resources that impact coastal ecosystems, economies, and people.
Decision-makers include but are not limited to:
elected and appointed government officials and staff, non-governmental organizations, Tribal councils and members, community-based organizations, civic groups, faith-based organizations, businesses, and academics.

The CTP will use your feedback to identify specific training topics to design upcoming programs, and to determine the best timing and formats for delivering training and technical assistance to coastal decision makers.

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes of your time. Please complete the assessment by December 20, 2024 and provide a valid email address if you’d like to be eligible for the drawing to win one of two $50 Visa gift cards. All responses are voluntary and will be kept anonymous.

You can email Kristen Weir, the Coastal Training Program Coordinator at Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, if you have any questions: kristen.weir@mass.gov, 508-457-0495
