Oklahoma museums have an annual economic impact of more than $482 million, and while closed, are losing an estimated $1.3 million in economic impact per day.

Recently, the Network of European Museum Organisations (NEMO) published the findings of a survey on the impact of COVID-19 on museums in Europe. We thought their data was important and believe it would be helpful to generate a  dataset for Oklahoma museums so that we can convey the impact of this public health crisis on our sector.

NEMO, through our colleagues at the Museum Association of New York, has given permission to use their survey questions, which were edited to reflect our nation and state. The survey includes a question about when you intend to re-open. We know that in Oklahoma all of our museums are closed under the Executive Order of Governor Stitt. Please answer that question with the date you realistically hope you will be able to reopen given all of the information we have today. Please add your data to help us collect responses across museums of all sizes and regions of the state.

Thank you in advance for your time and sharing your information. We will collect responses through April 30th.
