Thank you for your interest in the Caltrans Construction Mentor Protégé Program (CMPP). The CMPP supports the participation of small and disadvantaged construction companies that have demonstrated some ability to succeed in the construction industry.

Protégé Qualification Requirements:
  1. Business Experience: Protégés should have been in business for at least one year.
  2. Certification Eligibility: Protégés must be certified or eligible for DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) and/or DVBE (Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise) and/or SB (Small Business) certification.
  3. Active CSLB License: Protégés must hold an active Contractors State License Board (CSLB) license with one of the following classifications:
  • A - General Engineering Contractor: Eligible as a standalone license classification.
  • B - General Building Contractor: Eligible with additional C - Specialty Contractor license classifications typical for Caltrans transportation construction contracts.
  • C - Specialty Contractors: Eligible as a standalone license classification if the classification applies to work typical for Caltrans transportation construction contracts.
Participation in the program is voluntary. Protégés are selected through a screening and interview process from completed applications. Please note that information collected will be used for the purpose of evaluating eligibility in the CMPP and to notify you and others of program details.

The application completion time is estimated at less than 10 minutes.
