Survey - Independent Review of Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety Legislation and Costs and Charging Arrangements

Provide feedback by 5pm Friday 24 February
The Outdoor Industry are invited to make comments on the current Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) requirement of registration of Domestic Commercial Vessels's (DCV's) in Australia.
DCV's include any padding or sailing vessel such as a canoe or kayak that is hired out or provides commercial gain.
Outdoors SA and the other state peaks want your feedback to consolidate in a submission that will be made via the Outdoor Council of Australia to the Department of Infrastructure.

Agree
Neither agree nor disagree
Disagree
Strongly disagree
Lack of communication or consultation - there has been insufficient provision made to communicate that marine Order 504 will be applied to human powered paddling activities.
Overly complex scheme to obtain an exemption. The AMSA scheme is designed for complex marine operations and not easy to navigate to meet the exemption requirements.
The definition of 'commercial use' is capturing providers of educational and recreation experiences instead of a sole focus on commercial maritime operations
Unforeseen consequences that implementing Marine order 504 will impact and limit the provision of padding opportunities and place an undue burden on paddling experience providers.
Existing sufficient sector standards - there is no need for additional marine standards on recreation and education activities when the sector has its own regulation in place.
11.Identify any other concerns about the rules that you have.
12.Please advise your predominant region of operations in SA.
13.Is there any other comments you would like to make on this issue for Outdoors SA to be aware of?
