There’s something special about every town: places, traditions, and attitudes. These all draw people to a place where they care about and live. As in many small towns, some Mendota businesses have relocated, and numerous downtown stores remain empty. Unlike other communities, though, Mendota has also suffered major building losses due to fires. Despite set-backs, our community is still special and is still growing and improving. 
 
In April 2023, Reimagine Mendota was awarded a Community Heart & Soul Seed Project grant. Community Heart & Soul is a resident-driven process that engages all residents in identifying: What they love most about the community, What future they want for it, and How to achieve it. 
 
Information gathered from these surveys and conversations will help guide Mendota’s plans, priorities and investments. We value your opinion and experiences.
