CGA Farmer's Survey This survey was prepared by the Cosumnes Groundwater Authority. The main purpose for the survey is to assess the interest of farmers/ranchers in participating in efforts to reduce water use and/or engaging in managed aquifer recharge. We would also like to understand the types of incentives farmers would consider in exchange for their participation in water use reduction and/or aquifer recharge. The information gained from the survey will be used to help identify approaches/options to reduce groundwater pumping in the Cosumnes Basin that are consistent with the interests of farmers/landowners. The survey is completely confidential, and you are not obliged to answer all the questions. If you'd like to discuss any aspect of this survey, please contact CGA Staff directly: info@cosumnesgroundwater.org Question Title * 1. The Cosumnes Groundwater Sustainability Plan calls for saving 3600 AFY in the first 5 years of the plan. Would you be open to finding ways to reduce pumping on your farm to help achieve this goal? Yes No Maybe Question Title * 2. Would assistance from a Farm Advisor (Ag Extension Agent or similar) help or do you feel you could accomplish this on your own? Yes, I would appreciate assistance No, I can do this without outside advice Unsure Question Title * 3. What type of water management or conservation practices do you currently use or would consider using in the future? Soil Moisture Testing Drip or Precision Irrigation Estimating ET Plant Tests/Pressure Bombs Metering Deficit Irrigation Question Title * 4. If you were to reduce water use by up to 15%, how much impact would this have on your farm income? Significant Impact Moderate Impact Minor Impact No Impact Unsure Question Title * 5. To implement water conservation practices that result in a 10-15% reduction in appliedwater, what amount of financial offset would you require? $25/acre $35/acre $45/acre $55/acre Other (please specify) Question Title * 6. Groundwater Sustainability Plans in other parts of the Central Valley are exploring opportunities for land repurposing to reduce groundwater pumping. Repurposing land could involve the following: crop shifting, periodic fallowing, dryland farming, long term fallowing and using land for other purposes, such as solar. Some forms of compensation might be available for these forms of repurposing. Have you considered land repurposing? Yes No Unsure Question Title * 7. Would you be interested in considering land repurposing in the future? Yes No Maybe Question Title * 8. If you answered yes to the previous question, on how many acres would you want to repurpose?
