CCM Public Survey |
INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE
The Canadian Canoe Museum (CCM) is in the process of planning its new home and we need your help!
Currently located on Monaghan Street in the south end of Peterborough, the CCM at present is far from the water and in a fairly hidden area of town. With the help of the City of Peterborough, we have been exploring the possibility of a new location on a downtown site, near to the river. This new site would enable us to have:
• a more visible and dynamic presence,
• expand our water-based programming,
• tap into new audiences, and
• contribute to the cultural and economic revitalization of downtown Peterborough.
While a candidate site on Water Street (just south of the Ministry of Natural Resources building) has been identified that would enable us to achieve all our objectives in this regard, there are other sites in the downtown that we will be examining as well.
In addition to finding the right site and planning a new museum to go on it, there are other key challenges:
• Fundraising is clearly one of the biggest.
• Programming, not just for local and regional markets, but for a national and even international audience will be a critical part of the solution.
• Marketing and branding to reach audiences at a local and regional level, and beyond, will be essential.
• Planning space for our future collection.
We have retained the consulting consortium of TCI Management Consultants, Reich + Petch (architects) and KCI International (fundraisers) to assist us in our planning.
One of the key aspects of this planning work is to enable our members, visitors and the general public to provide us with their thoughts at this stage of our planning. To this end, the survey below asks for your thoughts and suggestions in a variety of areas. We value hearing your suggestions. Please take a few minutes to help us with our planning process. Thank you very much!
