The NATCO Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (CCTD) certification recognizes registered dietitians practicing in transplantation who have met strict eligibility requirements encompassing registration status, experience, and professional engagement.

The CCTD Certification is valid for three years from date of issuance. Recertification requirements are listed below. Eligibility will be evaluated by the CCTD Workgroup.

* 1. Core Re-Certification Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for re-certification, individuals must maintain both core eligibility requirements.

· Must be an active Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR), or a body determined to be equivalent if not located in the United States.
· Have maintained 2 years full time or 4,000 hours over 5 years of transplant dietitian experience.

Examples of transplant dietitian experience include the following:
     *Interaction with transplant candidates, recipients and living donors
     * Attendance of transplant meetings (MRB, QAPI, etc.)
     * Participation in transplant rounds, research, quality improvement projects
     * Provided transplant nutrition education to staff


Additional Re-Certification Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for certification as a CCTD, individuals must meet both core requirements outlined above and have completed at least one of the following in the prior 3 years:

· Published a transplant nutrition related article in a peer-reviewed journal or book.
     * An electronic copy of your manuscript is required upon application

· Provided an oral presentation on a transplant nutrition topic (can include roundtable or panel discussions) at a national transplant or nutrition conference (National conference criteria outlined in FAQs).

· Provided a webinar presentation on a transplant nutrition-related topic for a national transplant or nutrition organization.
     * An electronic copy of your webinar presentation is required upon application

· Presented a poster on a transplant nutrition related topic at a national transplant conference.
     * An electronic copy of your poster along with the conference agenda is required up application

· Served on a national committee related to transplant and/or transplant nutrition for a minimum of one (1) year.
     * Written proof from a committee lead with hours/time served should be provided upon application

· Complete a minimum of 20 transplant specific CEU’s in the 3 years since last certified (CEU criteria outlined in FAQs).
     * An electronic spreadsheet of the CEU information upon submission should include: title of education presentation, date of completions, CEU credits and type (CDR or Category 1 CME), copy of certificate.

Any offering from NATCO or other national transplant-related organizations such as:

· American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation (AFDT)
· American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS)
· American Society for Transplantation (AST)
· International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS)
· International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT)
· International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS)
· Organ Donation and Transplantation Alliance (The Alliance)
· United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS)

and/or

Any offering from a national nutrition or medical organization specific to transplant nutrition or transplant dietitian practices. These organizations may include:

· The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
· American Society of Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition (ASPEN)
· National Kidney Foundation (NKF)
· Dietitians in Nutrition Support

and/or

Any offering that provides Category 1 CME approved credits on a transplant specific topic.

NATCO Transplant Nutrition Workgroup will accept any of these educational offerings regardless of whether they have been approved by bodies like the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR).

Administration fee ($50) is non-refundable in setting of denied application. Please contact Kelsey Krohn at KelseyK@natco1.org to make payment for your application.

Within the next few days you will receive confirmation that your application has been received, notification that an invoice has been created in your account for the application fee, and information regarding next steps from the NATCO office. Once your application is processed you will be notified via email by a member of the Transplant Dietitian Workgroup. Applications are due April 1st and October 1st of each year. Applications will only be processed twice per year. Qualified applicants will receive a Clinical Transplant Dietitian Certification certificate via email. This certification will be valid for three years.
